This edition of HELP's e-newsletter features some HELP Foundation firsts to kick off the new year! Our January edition begins with a video story featuring a HELP resident named Louie - the first of many video stories you will see over the next year about HELP consumers, programs, and services. Another big first for HELP is right around the corner - have you marked your calendar for our first casino night event? This e-newsletter will provide you with a link to purchase tickets. We thank you for your being a part of our events, supporting our consumers, and contributing to our agency so that we may
continue to fulfill our mission.

The holidays are a busy time for HELP consumers. Their schedules are filled with festivities including decorating Christmas trees, building ginger bread houses, and holiday parties at their day programs and residential sites. There are a few traditions at HELP during the holidays including the Annual HELP Holiday Party. About 200 guests attend for a presentation, dinner, and dancing. The day program has its own special holiday party that has become an event that the day program consumers look forward to year after year. Local businesses have made it their holiday traditions to visit HELP
residential sites and deliver presents to consumers. Read about each of these events below.

The HELP Holiday Party A few HELP consumers are selected each year for the Daniel J. Rice Consumer Achievement Award and recognized at the HELP Holiday Party in front of their peers. Pictured above is Anthony Brown receiving his award from HELP CEO Tami Honkala and Site Leader Elaine Craig. Anthony was selected for this award due to the significant improvement he has made throughout the last year. We are very proud of you, Anthony! Congratulations! After dinner and awards the HELP
consumers pack the dance floor for a celebration of the year coming to and end. Consumers are encouraged to bring family members as guests to the annual holiday party giving them a chance to celebrate the holiday season with both family and friends.

CDW Visits HELP Housing Each year CDW commits to making Christmas extra special for the residents at E. 38th street & W. 153rd. The employees at CDW receive wishlists from the residents and then visit both sites to deliver gifts. This year's gifts included new shoes, bedding, clothing, gift cards, and even the full 8-disc set of the Nightmare on Elm Street dvds. The residents were very grateful for all they received and enjoyed the annual visit with the CDW
staff. |
EFCU at Nottingham The staff at Eaton Family Credit Union have made it a holiday tradition for years to visit the residents of Nottingham. They bring their friend Santa Claus who takes pictures with each of the residents. EFCU asks for holiday wishlists from the consumers and generously brings gifts for all of the men who reside at Nottingham. The residents look forward to visiting with EFCU staff (and Santa Claus, of course!) each year.

HELP Adult Day Support Program The Euclid Adult Day Support program has a special holiday party each year thanks to the generosity of HELP board member Marty Frygier and his wife Michelle. The consumers take an active role in preparing for the party by decorating, setting tables, and planning the schedule of events for the day. One of the special activities is a performance by the choir pictured above. Being a member of the choir is a commitment – these consumers work together to practice
their show and perform it at special events. They always put on a great performance!
