Devotion to Her Students is Pays Off!

Picking up my wife one day last week, after a long hard day was a joy because I got to see her serving her students and ultimately the many missionary kid & business kid families they are part of here in the Philippines.

Kim has been devoting many extra hours to helping them and even toeing the line with them, holding a high standard for them to reach for. Thus with their math skills she is beginning to see fruit. Students themselves are showing more devotion to their assignments and grades. These students pictured in her room sought her out to get more tutoring time before the van ride home in the late afternoon. This has been happening practically daily and sometimes the room is full!

Pray for her as there are no TA's and no substitutes available since Faith Academy is so short-handed. Pray for continued good health and stamina.  Pray for more opportunities to build relationships and trust and to conversations about the gospel and issues from the Word of God. Sometimes HS mathematics allows for learning discipline and building character.

Pray according to 2 Peter 1:5-8 that Kim may be able to help some of these student first know they are saved and second that they will develop assurance as they add to their faith the character qualities that must be developed to grow in their walk of faith in Christ Jesus. Thanks for praying.

A Focus on Prayer for Emmanuel Baptist Youth

Praying for, supporting and encouraging the youth of Emmanuel Baptist. Sunday, following his sermon on the importance of Christian Ethics, Pastor Ced, our youth pastor, led the congregation in a time of prayer for the youth of the church. His stated concern is that we and our youth live wisely and walk holy in these evil times. With temptations all around, it is vital that we who are His children learn to abide in Christ.  We must pray for one another, especially for our youth and children.  Many more students came forward for prayer after I took this picture. It was a special time as the youth face some incredible stresses and temptations in the Philippines.

The president of the Philippines has been waging a war on drugs against those who push and use them. During recent police actions some 15 year olds were accidentally killed by police, which has citizens greatly concerned.

Pray for these students according to Mark 12:30-31 that they will love the Lord with their whole life and grow in Christ.  Pray too according to 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 that they will fight temptation and take their thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ.. Thanks for praying.

Prayer Fellowship at Emmanuel Baptist Church

A week ago Sunday EBC held one of its regular prayer fellowship evenings.  This special time is centered upon praying according to the Word of God for the gospel to go forth into the world, for praying together as men and women and youth in small groups, for the ministries of EBC in and around the city and praying for one another in pairs.

I am so impressed by this congregation's devotion to prayer and teaching God's Word.  It's fun to be involved with these folks as much as we can be.  By the way, this little guy who kept getting in Pastor Ced's pictures is his son, Cedie...a very cute kid with a great smile! :)

Two Sermons to Preach Next Weekend!

Pray for me as I am preparing to preach this upcoming Saturday at one of the Emmanuel Baptist's church plants near downtown Manila.  The focus is Christian Obedience.  On Sunday I will be preaching at EBC on "Pursuing Excellence" from 1 Corinthians 15:58, "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord."

We count it a privilege to be associated with this church and their ministries.  To be given these opportunities to proclaim God's truth and to help establish God's people in their faith is a joy...really,  it is a total blast and loads of fun!

Partners in a Generational Legacy

A premier verse related to passing on the baton of ministry to the next generation is 2 Timothy 2:2, "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

When you join us in prayer ministry and regular financial partnership, you are investing in a movement of equipping a new generation for Christ and thereby partnering in a legacy for future ministry in the Philippines and beyond.

The seminarians Robert equips at BBSI are training for their calling to serve with excellence. The missionary kids Kim works with at Faith Academy need an education and to be challenged with the truth of the gospel, even while their parents serve in ministries all over the Philippines.

To invest in this work, simply click the button to go to ABWE's secure online donation page.  There you can arrange automatic monthly support.  All support donations are tax-deductible.

Click on the Equip logo and you will be directed to our website to know more about the vital ministries we are involved with in Manila and beyond.  It's been said that the Philippine Islands are the "gateway to Asia". Well, in regards to the gospel being taken to Asia that could very well be true as many young Filipino men and women are preparing for ministry even as missionaries in other Asian countries.  They need our prayers!  We need to help prepare them.
