Praising the Lord!: 40 Years and Counting!

Today marks this milestone for Emmanuel Baptist Church and it was a special day of festivities related to it.  A message was brought to our church by Pastor Nelson deJesus on the EBC theme verse for 2018, Joshua 3:5, “Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”  We would ask you to pray for these wonderful brothers and sisters as they serve in the community and beyond in 2018.

EBC Choir

These EBCers are awesome!  The Lord has blessed them with a collective talent that really shines the witness of God's grace.  Of course, they are devoted and the work they do is pressure packed, but they are so committed to it... and it really shows in their performances too!  Pray for these wonderful brothers and sisters!

Children's Choir

Led by some very talented EBC members, these young people give a gift to the EBC family every time they sing!  We are very grateful to the Lord for their dedication.  It seems to Kim and I that they just have a lot of fun every time they perform.  For us it is an encouragement to see children singing praises to Him!

Pastor Roi Cruz

All of our pastors are a gift, but speaking about Roi personally He was used of God to warmly welcome our family to the EBC family. He's got a particular sense of humor that is contagious. He loves to joke with his congregation and they love it.  He may be the most patient & understanding man I've ever met!

Catching Up with a Seminary Grad and His Dad!

Pastor Nelson deJesus is the father of one of my grads Elijah deJesus and they serve together training church leaders in the Philippines and in such places as Cambodia. I've found it more common than I expected here for seminarians to be serving with their fathers in ministry.  Elijah sang a solo prior to his father's sermon.

Elijah told us Sunday that they will do a training work in Thailand this year too. I intend to connect these gentlemen in the near future with, because I want to hear more of what the Lord is doing through them in the Philippines, Cambodia and Thailand. Even though Kim and I were unable to attend the afternoon festivities held across the street at BBSI due to a bout with stomach flu, we heard it was very special.   Thanks for praying!

Josh McDowell Speaks at Faith Academy!

Friday at Faith Academy saw Christian author Josh McDowell speaking to the FA student body and staff. By way of personal testimony he shared the gospel of grace and forgiveness. We first met Mr. McDowell in 1981 when we were students serving with Campus Crusade for Christ on the CSU Sacramento campus. Our ministry was able to host him as an apologetic speaker there.  He continues to challenge people with "Evidence That Demands a Verdict" even now after 50+ years.

We would ask you to pray for the students who heard his personal testimony and gospel message.  Pray for soft hearts to the good news message they heard and recognition of their need for Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Thanks for praying.

Partnering for a Generational Legacy!

The seminarians Robert equips at BBSI are training for their calling to serve with excellence. The missionary kids Kim works with at Faith Academy need an education and to be challenged with the truth of the gospel, even while their parents serve in ministries all over the Philippines.

Out of 2 Timothy 2:2 we find a premier related to the passing of the baton of ministry to the next generation... "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

When you join us in prayer ministry and regular financial partnership, you are investing in a movement of equipping a new generation for Christ and thereby partnering in a legacy for future ministry in the Philippines and beyond.

We are presently down in support by about 5% of our pledged monthly needs, which is common after arriving to the mission field again even after a long and fruitful furlough.  To invest in this work, simply click the button to go to ABWE's secure online donation page.  There you can arrange automatic monthly support.  All support donations are tax-deductible.

Well, in regards to the gospel being taken to Asia that could very well be true as many young Filipino men and women are preparing for ministry even as missionaries in other Asian countries.  They need our prayers!  We need to help prepare them.  Click on the button to see my new ministry blog..."THRIVE!".
