Midterms for BBSI Seminarians!

Midterms! All of my seminarians in Baptist History, Revelation and Travel Epistles endured the tests on Thursday. Pray for them beyond the academics of it all and that they will be challenged and changed into those who are equipped and ready to fulfill their calling in local churches.

One of the many things I love about my seminarians is that they remain focused in the midst of an extremely busy schedule of school work + practical ministry at local Manila venues!  These include regularly evangelistic outreaches, Bible studies, preaching, basketball clinic outreaches, women's and children's ministries and new church plant efforts.  They are the future of church ministry in this country and I want to see them as ready as possible! Thanks for praying!

ABWE Asia-Pacific Director at EBC Preachers' Coalition!

An awesome time Tuesday evening with the Preachers’ Coalition!! We got to know one another better over dinner and had discussions ranging from the discipler-disciplee relationship, worship and music in the service and preaching delivery (especially voice & style) and sermon prep.

The EBC preachers were especially intrigued with Steve's insights on music and worship since he has a background as a music pastor for many years and was trained as a music conductor.  Steve has a trained voice for singing and it shows in his preaching delivery and voice. As a result of their time with Steve, the preachers are wanting to work on their own voice delivery.

By God's grace, a special bond has been established between our team of preachers and Pastor Steve. Please continue to pray for these faithful men. Our collective goal is to by all means possible improve in our skills for the calling on our lives. Thanks for praying!

Pastor Steve Challenges Graduating Seminarians!

It was a privilege for us on Tuesday afternoon to have a visit at BBSI from pastor, missionary and Asia-Pacific director Steve Mayo. He spoke to my Travel Epistles Class, which is made up of almost all graduating seniors who will go into their internships somewhere following graduation in April.

His message and appeal was for my students to consider disciple-making and leadership training through a missionary's calling context somewhere in Asia. Not many countries are blessed like the Philippines to have theological education and training.  The need is great throughout Asia for trained leaders.  This is especially true in Cambodia where mostly women are responding to the gospel.  As a result, women are leading in church planting efforts since there are not  enough men to lead.

I was pleased with my seminarians who asked quite insightful questions. Steve has a natural and relaxed style of communication, which translates well in a Filipino setting. Pray for these young men to consider their future and the calling on their lives. Thanks for praying.

ABWE Philippines Missionaries Gather in Manila!

We were privileged Monday to have meetings with our ABWE colleagues at the facility operated by New Tribes Ministries (now known as Ethos360) in downtown Manila.

It was great to catch up with our colleagues who are serving in Laoag in N. Luzon, Baguio City, Malaybalay City on Mindanao and of course our acting country leader Steve Mayo from Sydney Australia. Kim was able to drive from Faith Academy to downtown Manila and join us all for dinner and fellowship at the end of the day.

One of our former missionary couples (Kent and Sandra Pool), who faithfully served 20+ years at Doane Seminary in Iloilo City, joined us at the tail end of their short term missions trip in Iloilo.  Some of our missionaries could not make it this time due to the cancellation of a flight.  Please pray for these wonderful missionaries. Thanks for praying!

Training Resources Needed!

Our EBC Ministry Enrichment Seminar is now scheduled for the end of April.  Which means we still have time to raise the rest of these resources.  The following is what we have thus far.  Any additional resources will definitely be used and distributed to those who need them in Emmanuel Baptist and EBC church plants or outreaches.  So far our tally looks like this:

~  10 DONATED! = NKJV Holman Study Bibles (Large Print/Imitation Leather)
~  9 DONATED! = Spiritual Depression by Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
~  20 DONATED! = Nine Marks of a Healthy Church, by Dr. Mark Dever

If you can help us by sponsoring a book or books for the training of those who serve in this church and its church plants & outreaches, then please click the button below.  If you want to just purchase them from Amazon without using the Amazon list, then you can have the book or books shipped to:  Jonathan Stout, 38065 Murrieta Creek Dr., Murrieta CA 92562.

(PS - this works best from a laptop/desktop browser or iPad...it's having troubles from an iPhone).  Thank you for your help in training God's people in the Philippines!

Partnering for a Generational Legacy!

The seminarians Robert equips at BBSI are training for their calling to serve with excellence. The missionary kids Kim works with at Faith Academy need an education and to be challenged with the truth of the gospel, even while their parents serve in ministries all over the Philippines.

Out of 2 Timothy 2:2 we find a premier passage related to passing the baton of ministry to the next generation... "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

When you join us in prayer ministry and regular financial partnership, you are investing in a movement of equipping a new generation for Christ and thereby partnering in a legacy for future ministry in the Philippines and beyond.

We are presently down in support by about 5% of our pledged monthly needs, which is common after arriving to the mission field again even after a long and fruitful furlough.  To invest in this work, simply click the button to go to ABWE's secure online donation page.  There you can arrange automatic monthly support.  All support donations are tax-deductible.
