EBC Preachers' Coalition

My fellow "preachers-in-arms" at Emmanuel Baptist meet with me on most Monday evenings at a local Starbuck's to discuss exegetical study and expositional preaching.  Lately we are reading and discussing concepts, principles and applications out of this 9Marks ministries book.

This book has clearly stimulated some good discussion among us.  Please continue to pray for my brother preachers as we mutually encourage one another in this important ministry.  Thanks for praying!

41 Seminarians in Christian Apologetics Class!

I would ask you to pray for me as I prepare and now teach a new course at the seminary.  I have 41 seminarians in Christian Apologetics Class and we are studying key methods of interacting with people and their worldview and belief systems.

The Philippines is considered to be a 90% Catholic nation, yet syncretism (mixing of different religious belief systems and superstitions) is rampant and prevalent here.  I hope to help my students learn the best methods for engaging their fellow Filipinos related to life's ultimate questions and the truth of the gospel.

Using lectures and some unique apologetics and witnessing videos, I am attempting to stimulate some good discussions to deepen their skills in witnessing.  Pray for me as I embark on this new project of training a new group of young people to witness effectively for Christ.

Please pray for us as we tackle some key tactics of dialoguing with unbelievers.  I want them to know how to answer the key question that Pontius Pilate posed to our Lord, namely, "What is truth?"

Pray they will be learn to fulfill 1 Peter 3:15, "but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;"  Thanks for praying!

Pray for Faith Academy's Upcoming School Year!

Last week the Faith Academy 2018-19 school year began.  A beginning ceremony showcased just how many countries are represented in the FA administration, teaching faculty and student body.  In this picture we see flags of 26 different countries!  Kim has taken on Pre-calculus, Algebra 2 and Applied Mathematics.  The Lord has provided a new math teacher and so the FA high school math department is fully staffed.  Thanks for praying!

Items for Prayer

~ Pray for us as we deal with the aftermath of both of our ministry vehicles being flooded while we were away.  Seems as soon as we are ok with repairs on one car, then the other needs something repaired.

~ Pray for me as a group of pastors in the Laguna area of Manila would like me to come to them on a weekend in September to teach my Sufficiency of Scripture in Discipleship Seminar.  My contact there is Michael Villanueva, one of my graduates.

~ Pray for me as I attempt to arrange a theological or practical extension course with the group of pastors in the province of Baras and Tanay, which is east of Manila.  These faithful pastors used to come together on Tuesdays for mutual support and training.  Now they are meeting on Saturday afternoons, which might make it feasible for me to teach them on a couple of Saturdays a month over a number of months.  Thanks for praying!

~ Pray for Kim as she teaches math at Faith Academy, but hopes to be also discipling junior and senior girls.

Investing in a Generational Legacy

The seminarians Robert equips at BBSI are training for their calling to serve in His church with excellence. The missionary kids Kim works with at Faith Academy need an education and to be challenged with the truth of the gospel, even while their parents serve in ministries all over the Philippines.

Out of 2 Timothy 2:2 we find a premier passage related to passing the baton of ministry to the next generation... "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

When you join us in prayer ministry and regular financial partnership, you are investing in a movement of equipping a new generation for Christ and thereby partnering in a legacy for future ministry in the Philippines and beyond.

We are presently down in support by about 5% of our pledged monthly needs, which is common after arriving to the mission field again even after a long and fruitful furlough.  To invest in this work, simply click the button to go to ABWE's secure online donation page.  There you can arrange automatic monthly support.  All support donations are tax-deductible.

To learn more about this vital ministry, click on the Equip logo and go to our website.  It's been said that the Philippine Islands are the "gateway to Asia". Well, in regards to the gospel being taken to Asia that could very well be true as many young Filipino men and women are preparing for ministry even as missionaries in other Asian countries.  They need our prayers!  We need to help prepare them.  Click on the button to see my new ministry blog..."THRIVE!".
