The Task of Teaching Apologetics!

As a "coach" in my seminary setting, I am training young men and women in the integral parts of the work they are preparing for. When all the parts are understood and then brought together as a whole it helps them to excel still more.  In Christian Apologetics we focus on the ways and means of engaging people and their religious positions, world views and belief systems.

I want my 40+ apologists-in-training to consider the practice of entering into discussions to persuade without offending by way of using common sense arguments about our world and biblical truth.  Last week we watched “The Atheist Delusion”, which is a film produced by Living Waters and Ray Comfort (also available for viewing on YouTube).

We had some stimulating discussion following the Atheist Delusion. We are discussing tactics and strategies that open the heart and mind to God's truth.  I am really excited about their enthusiasm.

We have also watched and discussed apologetic concepts from "Genius, the Movie", which has as its basic premise the life, murder and worldview of John Lennon.  Others we will watch and discuss are "Evolution vs. God" and "Hell's Best Kept Secret".  Certain articles that my students will be reading and studying for discussion are:
~ "Ultimate Questions", (Blanchard)
~ "Every Thought Captive: A Study Manual for the Defense of Christian Truth, (Pratt)
~ "Christian Apologetics, (C.S.  Lewis)

Will you join us in prayer for these students as they study to excel still more.  Pray they prepare well to give an account for the hope that is within them to whomever they may be speaking to.  Thanks for praying!

Educating & Discipling TCKs

A new year and lots of students to focus on at Faith Academy Manila through Algebra 2, Applied Math and Pre-Calculus. Pray for Kim as she devotes her skills and enthusiasm to these TCKs (Third-Culture Kids). Pray as she brings her knowledge, dedication and enthusiasm for learning and applying math to the students. Pray too as she arranges time with some of the girls who are interested in reading and discussing the biblically-based themes and issues found in The Pilgrim’s Progress, by John Bunyan.

This wonderful allegory, which is closely connected to God's Word, brings one face to face with such normal Christian concepts as the burden of sin and the wrath of God, our desperate situation as sinners who are unable to save ourselves, the narrow way to salvation through Christ and His Cross, His substitutionary sacrifice on the cross, living a life of constant faith and dependence on the Lord and His faithful Word, and the journey of our Christian life towards the Celestial City (Heaven).

Kim has had the joy of visits from past and current students expressing to her that though her math classes were tough, it caused them to appreciate the results and the character it built into their lives.  Pray for Kim as she takes every opportunity possible, much like Evangelist of The Pilgrim's Progress, to point the way to salvation and the path to the Celestial City.  Thanks for praying!

Items for Prayer

~ Pray for me as a group of pastors in the Laguna area of Manila would like me to come to them on a weekend in September to teach my Sufficiency of Scripture in Discipleship Seminar.  My contact there is Michael Villanueva, one of my graduates.

~ Pray for me as I attempt to arrange a theological or practical extension course with the group of pastors in the province of Baras and Tanay, which is east of Manila.  These faithful pastors used to come together on Tuesdays for mutual support and training.  Now they are meeting on Saturday afternoons, which might make it feasible for me to teach them on a couple of Saturdays a month over a number of months.  Thanks for praying!

~ Pray for our children and grandsons stateside as they pursue their lives and that they will grow strong in their dependence on God and His Word! Grandson #4 is due the first week of January 2019!

~ Equipping & Training of future church leaders

~ Educating & Discipling of Third-Culture Kids (TCKs) at Faith Academy and
  ~ Encouraging & Cultivating biblically-based & practical ministry

You will thus be part of the team of churches and individuals who are helping us to fulfill the calling of "equipping today those who will serve in Christ's church tomorrow!"

The seminarians Robert equips at BBSI are training for their calling to serve in His church with excellence. The third-culture kids (TCKs) Kim works with at Faith Academy need an education and to be challenged with the truth of the gospel, even while their parents serve in ministries all over the Philippines and Asia.

Out of 2 Timothy 2:2 we find a premier passage related to passing the baton of ministry to the next generation... "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

We need your financial and prayer support today!  Join us as one of our senders in fulfilling God's calling in the lives of those serving here!

Visit www.EquipAsia.net & Learn More!

The Philippine Islands are known as the "gateway to Asia". Well, in regards to the gospel being taken to Asia that could very well be true as many young Filipino men and women are preparing for ministry even as missionaries in other Asian countries.

Since many of those who graduate from the seminary here are now serving around the Philippines, as well as throughout Asia and beyond, then it seems fitting to change our website name to reflect it.  They need our prayers!  We need to help prepare them.

It is titled EQUIP! since that is what we do, but also it is now known www.EquipAsia.net
