An Invitation to Rethink Early Childhood Learning

The new framework has been expanded to include children from infancy to eight years of age and has an increased focus on reconciliation and Indigenous worldviews, and on inclusive education practices.

Increased Funding to Improve Students' Mental Health

BC's public and independent schools will have access to $8.87 million in funding over the next three years to help them better support mental health for all children and for those with substance-use challenges.

Graduation Assessment Requirements

Wondering which students write which assessments this year? Here's what you need to know:

- The Grade 10 numeracy assessment is required for all students; Grade 10 students must take it this year.

- The Grade 10 literacy assessment is required for Grade 10 students; only Grade 10 students take it this year.

- This year‘s Grade 12 students do not take a literacy assessment and do not take a Language Arts 12 exam;
Language Arts 12 exams are only for students rewriting an exam or completing courses from the old curriculum.

- The Grade 12 Graduation Literacy Assessment (GLA 12) is currently under development and will be implemented in the 2020/21 school year.

Director of Assessment Administration, Analysis and Reporting

The Director of Provincial, National and International Assessments leads the administration, marking, analysis and results reporting of the Grade 4 and 7 Provincial Foundation Skills Assessment and the Grade 10 and 12 Provincial Graduation Assessments. The position also directs all activities related to the administration and reporting of National and International Assessments and represents BC on a national assessment committee.
