In My Father's Words: The Story of an Auschwitz Survivor

January 27, 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau. To recognize this historic event, you are invited to share with your students a powerful video about one of its survivors. Told by his son, “Leo’s Journey: In My Father’s Words” is Leo Lowy’s harrowing account of his experience at Auschwitz during World War II (recommended for a Secondary audience).

The 2020 Moose Hide Campaign is Almost Here

Schools are invited to participate in the Moose Hide Campaign on February 24 to help create a safer world for women and children. Show your commitment to ending violence by wearing a Moose Hide pin, fasting for the day, watching the Moose Hide Live Broadcast, accessing learning resources, or taking part in other events across the province.

Two new resources to support teachers in incorporating Indigenous knowledge and perspectives in their classrooms are now available. Equity in Action: Supporting Indigenous Student Success

In August 2016, the BC Ministry of Education and six pilot school districts created a project to help ensure equitable experiences and educational activities for all Indigenous learners. Now in its third year, the Equity in Action Project is proving to be a very powerful tool in supporting Indigenous learners across the province.

Vaping Prevention Toolkit

A Vaping Prevention Toolkit is available on the BC Lung Association website. The toolkit contains various anti-vaping resources for teachers and parents, such as infographics and information sheets, in multiple languages. All materials were pilot tested and evaluated in schools.

Skills Canada BC to Host the 2020 Nationals

Skills Canada BC will host the Skills Canada 2020 National Competition in Vancouver, May 27 – 30, 2020, at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Winners of Skills Canada BC’s Provincial Competition will compete for gold, silver and bronze in the leading trade and technology competitions during this Olympic-style 2-day national event.
