New Parent Communication Platform - Bloomz

Due to Appletree not working well for all of the parents we have switched platforms for parent communication. We will now be using Bloomz. The instructions on how to set up a Bloomz account and join the UB group is located in your group chats. If you cannot find it just text Martika. Please share this information with your parents.

Also, with Bloomz, you all may sign up too. Signing up will give you access to progress reports sent to parents, updates, and announcements, and any documents we upload to your portfolio. If you are interested in joining the UB Bloomz group send me a message so I can give you your student access code. If you or your parents have any questions know I‘m here to answer!

All parents should be on this platform!

Houses

Welcome Houses!

This summer we will be doing things a little Harry Potter-ish! You all have been divided into different Houses and you will represent your House throughout the whole summer. Students can earn points for their House on an individual level and as a team. If a teacher or staff gives individual points, those points will be added to the House's total. So, earning Standout Student status in your class brings points to your House and not just to you.

Students can earn points by that doing good deeds, participating in class, going above and beyond in and out of the classroom, winning competitions and challenges, and any other reason that staff or teachers deemed rewardable. Points can also be taken away due to rule-breaking, negative behavior in class/during the evening activities, not doing academic work, or any other reason determined by teachers and staff. RAs are not allowed to give points since they are the Chair of the House.

All students will be placed in the "UB Houses" course on Canvas. This is where points can be tracked. Each time points are added or deducted from a House it will be announced there. (This way we do not send too many messages through your GroupMe groups.) More information about each House will be placed in this Canvas course as well.
