Monterey Middle School Shares Virtual Walk Through

With the move to Stage 3 of B.C.‘s K-12 Education Restart Plan, schools across the province have implemented a number of important measures to protect the health and safety of staff and nearly 75,000 students who have returned to the classroom.

Check out this virtual tour from Ken Andrews, principal of Monterey Middle School in SD 61: Victoria, for an example of what one school environment looks like with the new health and safety protocols that have been put in place. As you will see, Monterey staff have even engaged students in helping clarify physical distancing guidelines to make it easy for their peers to understand. The poster of the eagle with a two-metre wingspan is an especially clever idea!

With over 2,000 views, Monterey‘s virtual tour has garnered attention from teachers, students and parents/guardians around British Columbia. The video simplifies the new normal in schools and offers guidance on how to set up your own classrooms for success.
Yesterday Minister Rob Fleming joined two Grade 7 students at Monterey for a tour of their classroom to see the health and safety guidelines in place. A recording of this event is available on the Government of British Columbia Facebook page
