Positive Experiences Continue Through Week

The second week of the province‘s gradual return to in-class instruction continued for both students and teachers across B.C.

Education staff and parents across the province are sharing their classroom stories and experiences as the K-12 Education Restart Plan continues. With positive stories coming in from School Districts daily, we wanted to share a few more accounts of what Stage 3 looks like in communities across B.C.

"Being able to return to school, renew relationships and friendships in the classroom, spend time with our much-loved classroom teacher, renew our sense of school community, and to truly finish the year and have closure on our daughter's kindergarten year, for her and us, has been invaluable."
- Marnie, SD 57: Prince George

“We can teach the academics online, yes, but there is so much more students get from being in school, and many students are not doing online learning. They do not have the support or means at home. My concern is that we will have a generation of students with a significant gap in academic, social and extra-curricular growth.”
- Lori, SD22: Vernon

“This week while being back at school, I found myself helping all Grades from K-7, providing preps to teachers. It is a learning experience being a first-year teacher having many different roles. Friday morning, I had 14 students, 1x Grade 1, 1x Grade 6, 1x Grade 7, 11x Grade 5's all making pizza… Two of these students were brand new to the school… It was such a wide range of ages in one classroom, but they all enjoyed themselves, keeping socially distanced. As a teacher, I loved seeing the older students help the younger students, even though they never met before.”
-Karen, SD39: Vancouver
