Karina LeBlanc Award Nominations Process Open

The BC Games Society is pleased to announce the opening of nominations for the Karina LeBlanc Game Changer Award.

Named after Karina LeBlanc, retired Olympic bronze medalist and one of the longest serving soccer players for Canada, the Karina LeBlanc Game Changer Award was developed to recognize the achievement of a young individual who has created opportunities for underrepresented youth in their community to participate more fully in sport.

Nominations will close on September 25, 2020.

Team BC Mission Staff Announced for the 2021 Canada Summer Games

With less than one year to go until the 2021 Canada Summer Games, preparations are underway and Team BC has selected the Mission Staff who will support British Columbia‘s athletes, coaches, and managers as they prepare for and compete at these national multi-sport Games in Niagara, Ontario.

Comprised of sport administrators, educators, sport performance experts, and communications specialists, the Mission Staff will provide a wide range of services to Team BC athletes, coaches, and managers leading up to and during the Canada Summer Games. The Mission Staff team strive to support Team BC in achieving optimal performances while ensuring each team member enjoys a tremendous Games experience in Niagara next summer.

Play Ball! Sport Moves Into Phase 3

Athletes throughout British Columbia will be able to engage in more organized sport activities and some competitive play as the Province moves to Phase 3 of the Return to Sport Guidelines.

In June 2020, viaSport released its Return to Sport Guidelines to support the amateur sport sector through the careful and gradual restarting of sports in B.C. communities. With Phase 3, each provincial sport organization can use the overarching guidelines to develop or revise its sport-specific plans. To date, 60 organizations have completed their return to play plans.

Upcoming Bid Application Information Session

The BC Games Society will be hosting a conference call meeting for all interested municipalities to discuss the bid process and answer any questions you may have. The conference call will take place on September 23, 2020, 10:00 AM PDT 

Should your community wish to participate, please submit your name and contact information including your phone number and email address to bidinfo@bcgames.org prior to September 16, 2020.

Fort St. John 2020 BC Winter Games Generate $1.8 Million in Economic Activity

The City of Fort St. John recently announced that the 2020 BC Winter Games had a direct economic impact of nearly $1.8 million to Fort St. John and the surrounding area.
