Detailed Return to Classroom Plans Posted Online

Back to school plans are now posted for all 60 school districts, so that staff and families can prepare for a safe return to the classroom. School districts will be contacting all families in their school communities to confirm if their child is planning to attend school in-person or if they require an alternative learning option.

Each school district plan follows strict provincial health and safety measures and operational guidelines, but classroom schedules and learning group sizes may vary based on student population and local consultation with education partners and Indigenous rightsholders.

School district plans outline how they will support student and staff mental health and wellness; what they are doing to ensure vulnerable students and those who require additional support in school are prioritized for full-time, in-class learning and services without delays; how they are ensuring Indigenous rightsholders are engaged in meaningful consultation; and plans for Indigenous students living on-reserve and attending public school.

Please direct families inquiring about the return to school to your district website to view school plans. (Plans for independent schools will be posted on school websites by early next week.)

Read the latest updates in the Provincial COVID-19 Health and Safety Guidelines for K-12 Settings (updated August 28). This document now includes guidance specific to arts education programs and school libraries/learning commons, as well as protocols if a student or staff member develops symptoms of illness at school.
