Building Compassionate Communities in a New Normal (Free Webinar)

This fall, the Ministry of Education will be hosting a series of webinars to help educators navigate the changes and opportunities brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Subject matter experts will present on a range of topics relevant to educators' interests and questions regarding changing teaching and learning environments.

First in the series will be Building Compassionate Communities in a New Normal on September 9, 2020 at 10:00 am PT. This 75-minute webinar will provide teachers, education assistants, and administrators with information, ideas and practical strategies to focus on their own well-being and create compassionate spaces for students.
 
Addressing requests from teachers, this professional learning opportunity will focus on fostering wellness through social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practice, resilience and from an indigenous lens. Speakers for this September session will include:

Monique Gray Smith, Award Winning and Best-Selling Author, Speaker, and Consultant
Dr. Linda O'Neill, Associate Professor for the Department of Psychology at UNBC and Clinical Coordinator at the Community Counselling Centre in Prince George
Dr. Kimberly Schonert-Reichl, Professor in the Human Development Department at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Applied Developmental Psychologist
