TSI FOR SENIORS You need to start looking at getting your TSI scores! If you took the TSI for a dual credit class then you will need to ask your counselors for your scores. If you are exempt from the TSI you will need your ACT/SAT score instead.
|
| |
|
TSI Exemptions The Texas Succes Initiative law requires every college entering student to demonstrate readiness in reading, writing, and math by earning an acceptable score in each area on the TSI Assessment unless you prove an exemption. The following list shows different ways students may qualify as being exempt from the TSI. Please review the exemption options below to see if you qualify.
|
|
|
Scores on the ACT or SAT Test
ACT Scores Reading - Composite 23 AND English 19 Writing - Composite 23 AND English 19 Math - Composite 23 AND Math 19
SAT Scores Reading - Evidence Based Reading/Writing 480 Writing - Evidence Based Reading/Writing 480 Math - Math 530
|
Scores on the STAAR test
Reading - End-of-course score of level 2 on English III
Writing - End-of-course score of level 2 on English III
Math - End-of-course score of level 2 on Algebra II
|
Dual Credit
Depending on what college-level course(s) you have already successfully completed, you may be exempt from taking the TSI Assessment in one or more areas. A TSI Coordinator will evaluate your COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY transcript(s) to determine if the courses you have successfully completed will qualify.

Meningitis Shot
The meningitis vaccine protects against meningococcal disease, which is a serious bacterial illness. Many colleges and boarding schools require it to protect students living in dorms. As an UB student, you are required to show Eva Silvia proof that you have received this shot.
If you have insurance it is highly recommended that you go to your doctor to get the shot. This would be the cheapest way for you.
If you do not have insurance you have options. You can go to the Denton County Public Health Department, CVS, or Walgreens to get the meningitis shot. However, CVS and Walgreens is pretty expensive - $75 - $150, so we recommend the Public Health Department. It will be a little wait but extremely worth it.
|
Documentation If you have already gotten your shot all you will need to do is bring a copy of your shot record to UB. Eva Silvia will look over and make sure everything is okay. This document will then be sent to the colleges you applied for.

| Create a TRIO Club Being a part of a club or organization is part of your UBjectives. We realize that it may be difficult for some students to join a new club this semester. To help students complete this UBjective a student can now create clubs in TRIO UB, which will count for the Organization UBjective.
In order to start a club in TRIO UB students will need at least five interested members, an advisor, and to submit a request form. Staff will review each submission within 24 hours.
