If you have to miss a Saturday for any reason, you are required to make up the work from each class on Canvas. You will need to complete each classes' work by the following Wednesday at 11:59 PM. If you do not have access to the Internet please inform a staff member immediately. If you are absent for more than 5 Saturdays we will talk about exiting you from the program.
Communication
If you are going to be absent, text, call in, or email staff members. Do not wait until Saturday afternoon to communicate your absence. Also, be respectful of UB staff; do not text or call after 10 pm or before 7 am.

UB HANGOUT!!
Next week we will have our Holiday UB Hangout! As requested, it will take place after our Saturday Academic meeting. This hangout will take place on zoom in the comfort of your home. We have a couple of things already planned, which means you will get extra supplies at next week's supply pickup. We also have made arrangements to bring in a little special guest! We are so excited to do this again because we really miss ya'll! More information will be discussed tomorrow but mark your calendars!

The Specifics
NASA is taking remote learning to the Moon! 2020 has been a year of working and living at a distance. Now consider what it might be like if you were living with a pod of astronauts 250,000 miles from Earth. Your challenge is to imagine leading a one-week expedition at the Moon‘s South Pole – with the whole world cheering you on. Tell us about the types of skills, attributes, and/or personality traits that you would want your Moon Pod crew to have and why. How many would be in your pod? And of course you‘ll need high tech gear and gadgets! In your essay, also describe one machine, robot, or technology that you would leave on the lunar surface to help future astronauts explore the Moon. Your entry must meet these requirements:
1. Grades 9-12: Essay, up to 300 words 2. Please
DO NOT put your name in your entry 3. For all entry requirements and judging criteria please read the RULES
Every student who submits an entry will receive a certificate from NASA and be invited to a special NASA virtual event – with an astronaut!
Semifinalists
156 People
Selected semifinalists will be invited to represent their state or territory in a series of Artemis Explorer sessions with NASA experts.
Finalist
9 People
Nine finalists will travel with a parent to NASA‘s Johnson Space Center next summer to learn about lunar exploration.
Grand Prize
9 People
The national winner in each grade division will win a family trip to see the first Artemis test launch to watch the most powerful rocket in the world launch from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
