Life is full of change and challenges, goodness and growth for all of us. It is our ability to adjust to or recover from whatever comes our way – our resilience - that determines how we navigate, weather the storms, and rise. Our resilience expands with time and intention. As the article, video and strategy below suggest, resilience growth is encouraged with intentionally nurtured connections, finding and focusing purposefully, and embracing healthy practices. Recognize ways you nurture your own resilience, and the ways you elevate our colleagues and our kids to nurture theirs.

Understanding and recognizing when we are in Learning Brain versus Survival Brain, while helping our kids to do the same, builds collective resilience. This 5-minute video offers a helpful explanation around the importance of intentionally and respectfully wrapping around our kids, increasing their resilience, and supporting their ability to maintain or return to “Learning Brain." Connecting to brain development, relatable visuals demonstrate the rationale for authentically connecting with students to have a significant positive impact on their present and future development. This video potentially lends itself as a resource to use with students to spark discussions specific to looking for "your people" (visual) as a reminder of safety to prompt them to return to Learning Brain.
