Students and Staff Supported by New Mental Health in Schools Strategy

We know that providing students with a safe, supportive and caring learning environment – where their mental health and well-being are prioritized – is critical to their success in school.

The Ministry is pleased to share the new Mental Health in Schools Strategy. Developed after extensive consultation with education and community partners and informed by over a decade of research, this strategy provides a vision and pathway forward for mental health in K-12 education system.

The Mental Health in Schools Strategy embeds positive mental health and wellness programs and services for students in all areas including school culture, leadership, curriculum and learning environments. The Strategy not only focuses on mental health promotion for students, it also reflects the importance of adult well-being and includes three core elements of Compassionate Systems Leadership, Capacity Building and Mental Health in the Classroom.
