Save the Date! January 17 - Community Building Dialogues: Celebrating Intercultural Connections

Tue, January 17, 2023 | 4:00pm - 6:00pm | Pasta Polo Restaurant | Free admission, but registration is required; light refreshments and food will be served.

The Tri-Cities Local Immigration Partnership (TCLIP) and Foundation for a Path Forward will jointly host a community dialogue to encourage and promote intercultural connections in a welcoming, inclusive, and safer space. The dialogue will bring together stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to meet each other and participate in open, facilitated discussions about their cultures, lived experiences, and challenges they face as part of their communities. 

We are inviting neighbors to hear about each other‘s experiences and work towards dismantling systemic racism by supporting the continued development of resilient and diverse communities in the Tri-Cities region. The event is free, but registration required; light refreshments and food will be served.

"Mothers Mental Health Toolkit” Training Sessions | TCLIP

January 16 & 17 | 1:00pm - 4:30pm | Online

Are you an early-years childcare provider?
 
In partnership with the BC Council for Families, TCLIP is inviting you to attend 2 half-day “Mothers Mental Health Toolkit” Training Sessions on January 16 & 17. This virtual training designed for early-years childcare service providers will enhance mental health literacy, provide guidance on how to promote mental wellness for families, and highlight strategies to support women and their families towards mental wellness. 

There is limited space available, and registration is required.
The sessions are part of a new “Tri-Cities Wrap Around Model for Mental Health for Immigrant Families”. This project aims to enhance service provider capacity to promote mental health in service delivery, raise awareness of the importance of mental health in culturally appropriate ways, increase accessibility of mental health supports & services for immigrant families, and mobilize knowledge through a national community of practice and local knowledge hub. 
 
This is a two half-day virtual training scheduled for Monday January 16th and Tuesday January 17th, 2023 from 1:00-4:30pm. There are 35 spaces available, with Tri-Cities based providers receiving first priority. Coquitlam Recreation Program Guide and Seniors Guide for Winter 2023 Now Available

The City of Coquitlam's Winter Recreation Programs Guide is now out. There are plenty of recreational, sports, arts programs, classes, and initiatives for all ages. The Guides include program information for: 
  • Early years (0 - 5 years old)
  • Children and Youth (6 - 18 years old)
  • Adults and seniors (19+ years old)
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Special city events
  • Parks, arts, and culture programs

 

 

 

Community Health Corner

New Urgent and Primary Care Centre Opened in Port Moody

Residents living in the Tri-Cities will benefit from improved access to team-based, comprehensive primary health care with the official opening of an Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) in Port Moody last month. The Centre is open from 9:00am to 8:00pm., seven days a week, for patients seeking non-life-threatening urgent care.

WHAT IS CANOO? Canoo is a FREE mobile app that offers newcomers like you a one-year membership that unlocks unlimited free admission to over 1400 experiences & places to visit, as well as discounts on travel, concerts, festivals, outdoor activities, sports, and more.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE? A one-year Canoo membership is available to any newcomer to Canada over the age of 18 within the newcomer‘s (i) first five years as a Permanent Resident OR (ii) first year of Canadian citizenship. Up to four kids under 18 can access the member‘s benefits.

Building Bridges Program Info Session | Pacific Immigrant Resources Society

Are you a skilled immigrant or refugee woman? Are you interested in honing your skills to increase employability? The Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS) can help you set and achieve your career goals in 2023!

PIRS is hosting 2 online Information Sessions on Thursday, February 2nd (1-2pm and 6-7pm) to provide more information and answer any questions from interested participants.

Aimed at skilled immigrant and refugee women interested in professional and career development to increase their employability, the program helps them elevate fundamental skills, build a network of support, and plan pathways to meaningful career in Canada.

This Building Bridges program by PIRS is a FREE 20-week Program on Thursdays 6:00 to 8:30 pm, from February 23 - July 27, 2023. Online on Zoom with the possibility of a few in-person sessions.

Volunteer as a Snow Angel this Winter | City of Coquitlam

Winter can be difficult and isolating time for seniors and those with mobility or accessibility concerns. The City of Coquitlam is actively recruiting volunteer Snow Angels, neighbours who can lend a helping hand this winter by assisting those who are unable to clear their City sidewalks. Snow Angels can be anyone who wishes to volunteer to help make the City’s sidewalks safer for those in need.
