| Earth Day Event | Hoy/Scott Watershed Society & City of Coquitlam
Sat, April 22 | 11:00am – 3:00 pm | Lot C, Town Centre Park Meet stewards of our local streams, Hoy and Scott Creeks, as Society volunteers will share their challenges and successes of operating a salmon hatchery in the middle of Coquitlam's City Centre. Learn how you can help take care of our watersheds to ensure the safety of the region's salmon.
This year there will also be compost workshops, children's activities and environmental education displays. The compost demonstration workshops will take place at the nearby Inspiration Garden at 11:30am and 1:30pm. The City will have free compost bags to give to Coquitlam residents.

Conversation and Connection Sessions at the Coquitlam Library, with the VoiceStory Foundation
Thurs, April 27 | 6:30pm - 8:00pm | Coquitlam Library, City Centre Branch The VoiceStory series is about putting away cell phones, disconnecting from the hustle and taking a moment to be with yourself and other community members. If you have thoughts and feelings of being disconnected, uncertain of what to say, what to talk about, not wanting to go alone, this event is a safe space for you practice to become a more comfortable communicator. This event is free and open to anyone 16 and older.
The event will by introducing some key concepts to help you become a more effective communicator and have deeper conversations. Next, you are invited to participate in the safe, friendly, empowered space, and engage in facilitated rounds of 1-on-1 conversation by providing a topic/question for each round of conversation.

The event aims to connect inclusive employers with job seekers who are eager to contribute their unique skills to the local workforce. | Virtual REACH Employment Program | Douglas College The Virtual REACH program is an Employment and Skills for Success training program for newcomers living in small towns and remote communities of BC. Join Douglas College's final cohort starting on May 1st, 2023 from the comfort of your own home. This is an 8-week virtual skills training program through Zoom and participants will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with an Employment Coach who will
provide job search support. There are 3 different class schedules (morning, evenings, Saturdays) to accommodate those that are already working. Participants will also receive a Completion Certificate and Letter of Volunteerism. Learn more and apply now at

| Newcomer Bike Mentorship Program - Info Session| ISS of BC
Fri, April 14 | Time TBD | Online ISS of BC and Hub Cycling are offering a free mentoring program that matches newcomers with local experienced cyclists (Bike Mentors). Pairs meet weekly and take part in bike activities.
Bikes, helmets locks and lights are provided at the start of the program. Meet other locals and newcomers through group cycling events, improve your English and learn about cycling in Metro Vancouver!
