Sense of Belonging Research - Survey Participants Invite
Calling for survey participants! We need your help to better understand the inclusion of 2SLGBTQIA+ newcomers in our local settlement services, the unique challenges and barriers they face, and how we can act to build more welcoming spaces across the community.In tandem with Pride Month celebrations in June, we are looking for folks to complete a short survey. Your contribution will help to improve community services and newcomer settlement programs to better serve the needs of queer & non-binary folks in the Tri-Cities area. Who can participate? We are looking for:
- immigrants, refugees, international students, and temporary workers who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, or questioning
- partner or caregiver of someone who identifies as 2SLGBTQIA+
- staff of a community service provider (for example: newcomer settlement, employment services, library, child care, education, healthcare, food bank, etc.)
Take part in our short survey questionnaire. It should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. Your participation & insights are greatly appreciated and will help build more safe spaces in our Tri-Cities community.

| Coast Salish House Post Blessing Ceremony and Feast | National Indigenous Peoples Day
Wed, June 21 | 6:00pm - 9:00pm | Rocky Point Park, Port Moody
The Port Moody Ecological Society and the In the Presence of Ancestors Project presents: A Coast Salish House Post Blessing Ceremony And Feast. Join the community in celebration of three house posts carved by Tsleil Waututh, Musqueam, Kwikwitlem, and Kwantlin artists. These are the first of five house posts being raised as part of the In the Presence of Ancestors project. Free family fun for all ages! Activities include: traditional Coast Salish drumming and singing, community art project by PoMo Arts, book sale, and dinner feast celebration. Bring your own picnic blanket, plates, and eating utensils. Free to attend, but registration require.

| Get Artistic in June - Tri-Cities Family Challenge Booklet TCLIP and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is hosting a 12-month family challenge where every month, families do an activity together and capture their memories through using the Tri-Cities Family Challenge Booklet. There will be a monthly draw for families to submit their drawings, photos, or stories for a chance to win prizes!
For June, bring out your family‘s creative side. Art can be a great way of connecting
with your family members and learning about their interests. Submit a drawing of your family‘s favourite activity by June 30 for a chance to win this month's prize.

| Training and Professional Development Opportunities
for Early Years Service Providers

Parent-Child Mother Goose Program Teacher-Training Workshop (In-Person)
June 28 & 29 | 9:00am - 4:00pm | Pinetree Community Centre
This is a two-day, in-person teaching for service providers hoping to provide a safe starting point for family members into services they need. It aims to equip providers to help build and strengthen families through rhymes, songs, and stories. Mother Goose programs are required to be facilitated by two trained teachers/facilitators. It is recommended that your organization identify 2 or more staff to participate in the training. Participants will need to attend both days to be eligible for certification. Light lunch and refreshments will be provided.
| Kids Have Stress Too! Facilitator Training Program (Online)
September 18 | 1:00pm – 3:30pm | Online
Kids Have Stress Too! is an online facilitator training program for service providers hoping to foster resiliency in families with young children. The program includes a 2.5-hour live session and 1.5 hours of recorded material for participants to watch on their own time. At the end of the program, providers will obtain skills to help build positive coping strategies for families to deal with life‘s stressors. Registrants will receive a Zoom link and access to the recorded material prior to the live session, and they must attend the live session to be eligible for certification.

| Open Call for Artists: Your Art, Your Reflection: Multiculturalism, Diversity and Anti-Racism
Deadline for art submission extended to June 8!The Asian Impact Society has an upcoming art contest and exhibit in the Fall. Artists of all ages from all backgrounds, and at all levels of artistic journey are invited to submit artwork to this event. This is a juried event and the artwork can be 2D and 3D work but must include one of the themes: multiculturalism, diversity or anti-racism. All submissions, provided they meet the criteria and appropriate for all audiences, will be exhibited at the Atrium of Place Des Arts from September 8 to November 9th as well as viewable online. Mon, July 3 | 5:30pm - 7:30pm | VancouverMeet other LGBTQ+ newcomers, make friends, and participate in activities facilitated by our LGBTQ+ support worker. Learn about community resources, share experiences and information, and build social connections. I Belong‘s peer support group is open to LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning) newcomers regardless of immigration status.

| Free English Classes: Workplace LINC 5/6 | Douglas College Training Group Workplace LINC 5/6 combines English language instruction with classes on how to prepare for work in Canada. You will also practice computer skills. This program is for newcomers who are motivated to build up their English language skills to enter the labour market. You are eligible for Workplace LINC 5/6 if you are a LINC 4/5 graduate or have a Client Referral Form from a LINC Language
Assessment Centre or a designated LINC school.
