In the Dream House For years Carmen Maria Machado has struggled to articulate her experiences in an abusive same-sex relationship. In this extraordinarily candid and radically inventive memoir, Machado tackles a dark and difficult subject with wit, inventiveness and an inquiring spirit, as she uses a series of narrative tropes—including classic horror themes—to create an entirely unique piece of work which is destined to become an instant classic.

Nuclear Power Reactor Operators
A nuclear power reactor operator is responsible for the flow of energy at a nuclear power plant. They control the equipment necessary to make adjustments to the plant's systems, and they handle related administrative tasks as necessary. They are often important figures in safety procedures at nuclear power plants as well, and they often use troubleshooting skills to identify and fix problems that arise. Nuclear power reactor operators are usually highly trained and licensed professionals completing hands-on work in the energy industry.
Nuclear power reactor operators monitor and adjust control rods to moderate the amount of electricity a plant generates, control cooling systems and implement crucial safety procedures. They often record data related to their operations and use that information to help guide their decisions. When a nuclear power plant does
not perform as intended or expected, nuclear power reactor operators often use specialized equipment to figure out the cause of the problem and implement a solution.
The median annual wage for power plant operators, distributors, and dispatchers was $97,570 in May 2022.
|
|
|
Education Needed
Power plant operators, distributors, and dispatchers typically need at least a high school diploma or equivalent. However, employers prefer workers who have a college or vocational school degree.
Employers generally look for people with strong math and science backgrounds for these highly technical jobs. Understanding electricity and math, especially algebra and trigonometry, is important.
Nuclear power reactor operators must be licensed through the NRC. They typically begin working in nuclear power plants as unlicensed operators, where they gain the required knowledge and experience to start the licensing process. To become licensed, operators must meet training and experience requirements, pass a medical exam, and pass the NRC licensing exam.
