TRIO Upward Bound (UB) is a pre-college program that not only assists high school students in completing high school but also pursue and completing post-secondary education. UB teaches students about college entrance exams, college choices, preparing for college while still in high school, and so much more.
TRIO UB offers a wide range of services that help students gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to successfully graduate high school.

| Bring a Friend
If you have a friend who is interested in the program but did not attend the informational presentation at your high school, bring them! Saturday Recruit Meetings are open to any and every student who is interested in TRIO Upward Bound.

The first recruitment meeting is this Saturday! During this meeting, we will discuss the program and the benefits of joining, get to know you a little more, and host a student panel of current TRIO UB members. The panel is an excellent time for you to ask questions and get students' perspectives and experiences with the program. We are so excited to see you this Saturday!

Location Students will go to the first floor in the Sage Hall Building (you can put "UNT Sage Hall" in your GPS and it'll take you there). The physical address is shown above. There will be students outside holding signs to help guide you inside.

Conerto High School Musicians Scholarship
“The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, in conjunction with the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, is pleased to announce its Concerto Competition for High School Musicians is now open. All application materials are due Nov. 15, 2023. The winner will appear as a guest soloist with the Marine Chamber Orchestra during the 2024 concert season and receive a $2,500 scholarship from the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. Second and third-place winners will receive $1,000 and $500 scholarships respectively.
Deadline: Nov. 15, 2023
Amount: $2,500 (first place); $1,000 (second place); $500 (third place)

Requirements This competition is open to high school musicians (grades 9-12) enrolled during the 2023-2024 academic year.
String, piano and harp players are eligible to apply. (Woodwind, brass and percussion players will be eligible in the 2025 competition.)

Additional Information
- Applicants must select ONE work from the repertoire list and submit an unedited recording of their performance accompanied by piano, band or orchestra.
- Recordings must be submitted in the form of a YouTube video. The application form cannot be completed without a link to the video.
- When posting to YouTube, applicants may also designate the video as "unlisted," meaning it is viewable only by people who have the direct link. If desired, the applicant can choose not to be visible in the video.

We know joining a new program can be overwhelming at times. You are taking on a lot of information quickly while also trying to make a good impression on the staff and current UB members. If you ever have a question or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask us. We are here to help you understand our program.
