In cities across Canada, we are witnessing a recent wave of organized anti-2SLGBTQI protests. We know anti-2SLGBTQI hate is not new; indeed it has been impacting our communities for generations. Living in the intersections of xenophobia, racisms, homophobia and transphobia, LGBTQI newcomers experience the impacts of exclusions and oppressions in their daily lives. Yet, the current round of public protests in schools, libraries and streets warrants focused attention and action. Civil society and newcomer settlement sector agencies have a critical role to

Library Champions Project
The Library Champions Project (LCP) is a three-month volunteer program for new immigrants. During the project, Library Champions are trained to conduct outreach to other new immigrants. The LCP’s four training sessions focus on building communication, presentation, and outreach skills and on gaining an understanding of the range of programs, services, and resources that are provided by libraries and immigrant and community service agencies. Why become a library champion:
- Discover amazing programs at your public library.
- Learn about the services offered by community and immigrant serving agencies.
- Help other new immigrants.
Give back to your community.
- Gain volunteer experience and references.

| Front Desk Assistant - Tri-Cities Region The Immigrant Settlement & Integration Program (ISIP) at S.U.C.C.E.S.S is currently looking for a front desk assistant volunteer to provided front desk support, greet walk-in clients and visitors, answer and direct phone calls, help clients register for workshops, classes or events, promote programs and services, and assist Program Assistants with administrative tasks when
needed. Time Commitment and Schedule: 4 hours per week, a minimum commitment of 3 months. Requirements:
- Speak one of the following languages: Farsi, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Arabic, or Ukrainian.
- Intermediate Level of English or above.
- 19 years or older.
- Must be willing to conduct a criminal record check.
