Anti-racism Talk: How to Respond to Incidents of Racism

Thu, October 12| 9:00am-12:00pm| Inlet Theatre, Port Moody.

Join us for a candid conversation hosted by the Tri-Cities Local Immigration Partnership (TCLIP) and the Port Moody Police Department on how to strengthen the community's capacity to respond to incidents of racism. Every person has a right to feel safe and participate in their community. Racism and hate make that impossible by creating fear and exclusion. We need to work together to end racism and hate in our communities by understanding racism and hate, how to report them and how to step in when we witness them.

Webinar: How to address the current rise of Anti-2SLGBTQI hate?

Thu, November 2| 11:00am -12:30pm| Online.

From Borders to Belonging is organizing a 90-minute webinar to address the current rise of anti-2SLGBTQI hate. In cities across Canada, we are witnessing a recent wave of organized anti-2SLGBTQI protests.

We know anti-2SLGBTQI hate is not new; indeed it has been impacting our communities for generations. Living in the intersections of xenophobia, racisms, homophobia and transphobia, LGBTQI newcomers experience the impacts of exclusions and oppressions in their daily lives. Yet, the current round of public protests in schools, libraries and streets warrants focused attention and action. Civil society and newcomer settlement sector agencies have a critical role to play.
