Attendance If you have to miss a Saturday for any reason, you are required to make up the work from each class on Canvas. You will need to complete each classes' work by the following Wednesday at 11:59 PM. If you do not have access to the Internet please inform a staff member immediately. If you are absent for more than 5 Saturdays we will talk about exiting you from the program.

Communication If you are going to be absent, text, call in, or email staff members. Do not wait until Saturday afternoon to communicate your absence. Also, be respectful of UB staff; do not text or call after 10 pm or before 7 am.

 Shared Library The UB Shared Library is where students can come to check out a diverse set of books and even suggest new ones to be acquired. You can check out books as frequently as you like!
The Shared Library is located right next to the front desk.
|  Job Board The board has a range of different job openings around Denton County and even extends out to Aubrey, Little Elm, etc.

| Study Method: Loci
The method of loci is a strategy for memorizing new information. It involves imagining yourself placing pieces of information around a room and then visualizing yourself walking back through to pick the information up.
The method of loci works by giving your brain new information in order and grounding your memory of it to different points in a familiar setting that you can easily navigate in your mind.
This new information can be something tangible, like an object, but it can also be a term, a concept, or anything else you need to recall.

Tailon Leitzsey's "Perseverance Is Key" Scholarship Tailon Leitzsey is an athlete, entrepreneur, community leader and father. Throughout his academic, athletic, and personal journeys, he has experienced ups and downs of all shapes and sizes. "Adversity helped shape me into the person I am today. Throughout my life, I have been faced with obstacle after obstacle, and sometimes wondered why but I made the decision to keep going. It wasn't until I got to the other side that I realized I was being prepped for greater. Nothing worth having comes easy." To add on to his long list of endeavors centered around giving back to his community, Tailon is excited to be partnering with Access Scholarships to do exactly that once again! For the Perseverance is Key Scholarship, we will be awarding 4 scholarships worth $1,000 each will be given to students who have demonstrated perseverance throughout their lives. High school and undergraduate students of
all years studying in the US are encouraged to apply. Special consideration will be given to minority students, students who have experienced foster care, and students who are or will be the first in their family to attend college.

Information Security Analysts
Information security analysts are responsible for protecting information in an organization‘s computer systems from data breaches and cyberattacks. Since lots of sensitive data is stored electronically these days, including bank account numbers and passwords, these professionals are crucial.
Information security analysts may install and maintain firewalls or data encryption software, develop security standards and best practices to protect sensitive information, identify risks and vulnerabilities in an organization‘s network systems, and investigate if a data breach occurs.
“The opportunities are vast right now in the profession,” Casey Cegielski, a professor at Auburn University who specializes in information security, and a
partner at a cybersecurity consulting firm, wrote in an email. “Every organization needs security people who have a strong industry understanding and are willing to learn technical skills and continue to grow.”

Education Needed Information security analysts typically need a bachelor‘s degree in computer and information technology or a related field, such as engineering or math.
Many employers prefer to hire candidates who have information security certification. Some of these certifications, such as Security+, are for workers at the entry level; others, such as the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), are designed for experienced information security workers. Certification in specialized areas, such as systems auditing, also is available.
Many analysts have experience in an information technology department, often as a network and computer systems administrator. | Duties
- Monitor their organization‘s networks for security breaches and investigate when one occurs
- Use and maintain software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs, to protect sensitive information
- Check for vulnerabilities in computer and network systems
- Research the latest information technology (IT) security trends
- Prepare reports that document general metrics, attempted attacks, and security breaches
- Develop security standards and best practices for their organization
- Recommend security enhancements to management or senior IT staff
- Help computer users when they need to install or learn about new security products and procedures

We have volunteer opportunities available at both our Main Site and Motel locations in areas such as preparing and serving food, sorting and organizing donations, and assisting with additional guest services offered daily. With over 130 shifts available a day there is a place for you to make a difference!"
