Growing Together: Inclusive Mentorship Program

We are excited to announce that we are launching the Growing Together: Inclusive Mentorship pilot program. This project is a partnership between the City of Coquitlam and the Tri-Cities Local Immigration Partnership (TCLIP), and it aims to increase the professional growth of the City of Coquitlam's mentors and mentees from equity-deserving backgrounds through an inclusive mentorship program.

Mentors will be able to support individuals from equity-deserving backgrounds by sharing their professional experiences and perspectives. While mentees will receive support on how to navigate their career journeys, have a better understanding of how the government sector operates, build connections and grow their professional networks. This project will be rooted in solidarity and a caring approach in which mentors and mentees will support each other to strengthen their leadership abilities and increase their professional growth.

Objectives:
  • Increase participants’ confidence by growing their networks and perspectives.
  • Strengthen mentees’ skills by giving them the opportunity to better understand the context of the government sector and the Canadian job market in general while also increasing their ability to identify professional paths.
  • Advancing the City of Coquitlam EDI commitments by building a bridge between City staff and professionals from equity-deserving backgrounds who face systemic barriers to meaningful employment.

Commitment:
  • Mentees must be able to commit to a minimum of 2 hours per month for 4 months. Details of the engagement will be decided between mentor and mentee.
  • This is not an employment program.
  • English proficiency level: CLB 6+ recommended.
  • This is a pilot program with limited spots available.

Registration for the mentorship program is now open, and the deadline to submit applications is Sunday, January 14th, 2024.

For more details about the mentorship program and submitting your application, please click here.
