Learning Update Reporting

Regardless of tool or level, when reporting on IEP goals, we must report on the strategies used to support each goal at minimum once per year. This reporting can be from classroom teacher, LST, counsellor or any other teacher on the student’s team.

Summary

Included in the summaries below are specific reporting guidelines for members of SBT:
1. Case Managers reporting on IEP progress
2. K-8 Learning Support Teachers reporting on Learning Support (including students who do not have an IEP)
3. ELL Teachers

yd2

1. CASE MANAGERS
Communicating on IEP Progress

According to audit criteria, we need to include evidence of service and strategies provided in relation to a student‘s IEP goals. In order to adhere to this and to follow new reporting policy, we are recommending that for both core and curricular goals, this is to be included in end of term learning updates through CSL, MyEd or Student Connect.

2. K-8 LEARNING SUPPORT TEACHERS Communication on Learning Support (also includes students without an IEP)

yd2
Our goal for 2024-2025 is that Learning Support Teachers in K-8 will either create a Subject Template in CSL following the instructions for a Prep/Exploratory Teacher and completing a personalized comment for each student or a general comment that is copied to each student‘s learning update.

3. ELL TEACHERS & CASE MANAGERS: Communicating Student Learning Progress on AIP Goals

It is recommended that ELL teacher(s) consult with classroom teachers about student progress on their specific goals in the AIP.

What Survival Looks Like in School

This is a great resource for helping traumatized children and the adults around them, understand what is going on. This handout can be used for children, parents, teachers or trusted adults at school to help them understand what survival states look like in the school environment and what they can do to help ground them and subsequently improve their learning.
