Join the Coquitlam Public Library in this Bad Art Night, which is a craft for people who love art, but aren‘t quite so good at making it. This event will feature already made art that attendees will take and turn into their own. There will be a full supply of crafting materials to decorate your chosen image. At the end of the night everyone will vote on their favorite and the Best Bad Artist will be crowned!
This event is for teens and adults only, no kids allowed. Ages 16+ only. This will be messy so please don't wear clothes you care about, they will get

| How to Co-Exist Safely with Coyotes Info Session

Join the Port Moody City of the Arts for an info session about co-existing safely with coyotes. Coyote breeding season is underway, which means they will be more active as they secure and protect territory. Sign up to attend a free information session, presented by the Stanley Park Ecology Society, and uncover common misconceptions about urban coyotes. Learn important tips to help keep your family and pets safe, what to do if you encounter a coyote and ways to manage attractants.

| Gardening Workshop: Help Plant a Veggie Garden
Wed, April 24| 2:00pm - 4:00pm| Terry Fox Library, 2150 Wilson Avenue, Port Coquitlam, BC, V3C 6J5
Join the Terry Fox Library for a workshop that will focus on companion planting vegetables. The first part is a presentation in the library by Master Gardener Lori Greyell, following which she will take participants out to the Port Coquitlam community garden beds for some hands-on planting.
Rain or shine, so dress appropriately. If you have a trowel and gloves, please bring them; we will have some on hand. All other supplies are provided.
Space is limited and only open to Port Coquitlam residents. To register, please call or drop by the Terry Fox Library.

Check your immunization records before Spring Break Travel!
With measles outbreaks being reported internationally and spring break on the horizon, the provincial health officer, BC Centre for Disease Control, and public health officials are reminding people in British Columbia to check their vaccination records before travelling to ensure they are protected.
In B.C., measles vaccine is given as a series of two doses. The first dose is given as the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine on a child's first birthday and the second dose is given around the time of starting school as the measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (MMRV) vaccine. Babies as young as six months should get vaccinated against measles before travelling to countries where measles is spreading. Children between one and four years can also get their second dose before travelling
internationally.

Cicely Belle Blainour A Black poet and activist from BC and one of the primary founders of Black Lives Matter Vancouver. They are the author of the poetry collection called Black Sugar which delves into Black history and identity and the impact of colonization on Black people. The collection shines light on “how systems, society and culture are all structured to reinforce racism."

Jillian Christmas A queer, Afro-Caribbean writer, educator, and activist based in Vancouver. She focuses on increasing anti-oppression initiatives in spoken word. She is the former artistic director of Vancouver's Verses Festival of Words.

Dominique Wakelandour A transgender activist and educator. They are one of the founders of Black Lives Matter Vancouver chapter and a strong advocate for the rights of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. Dominique uses creative and performing arts to spread messages of inclusion and diversity.

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is currently looking for business mentors to work as volunteers for the Integrated Women’s Entrepreneurship Project (IWEP). The IWEP is a multi-regional program that sets out to support and empower women entrepreneurs who are looking to start a business and expand their business by providing them with a wide range of resources, tools, advisory and trainings to succeed.

YWCA Metro Vancouver ASPIRE Refugee, Women Employment Program is now accepting applications for the April 2024 Cohort. This is a free employment program that assists newcomer refugee women in labour market preparedness to jump-start a meaningful career in Canada. As this is a hybrid program with optional in-person attendance, YWCA accepts applications from all over BC. They have 8 spots available for the April 15 cohort. Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants – Tri-Cities at Douglas College is for newcomers to Canada who live in the communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Maple Ridge, or Pitt Meadows and who have international credentials, training and skills from outside of Canada. Working one-to-one with knowledgeable career coaches, you will gain valuable resources needed to assist in launching your career in Canada.
The program is free for internationally-trained professionals who meet eligibility requirements. French settlement services are also available.
