TCLIP's Resilience Blanket
Inspired by the Witness Blanket, the Resilience Blanket is a collective story of strength and the power of community. Similar to a patchwork quilt, each story shares unique perspectives on strengthening confidence, empathy & community. The images used for the Resilience Blanket were made by community members and families with lived immigration experience who now reside in the Tri-Cities. They participated in several workshops offered by the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Multicultural Early Childhood Development Program and Luna Aixin.
Over the past few years, the Tri-Cities has seen increased incidents of racism which impact many Indigenous and racialized communities‘ health and sense of belonging. The idea for the Resilience Blanket was developed in response to the community‘s desire to support our diverse communities in amplifying their voices, to remind them of the strength in
building connections and community, and to engage everyone in dialogue. We believe that by sharing stories of hope and resilience, we can reflect on our own privileges and how we can play a role in advancing equity and inclusion for all.
We encourage you to take the time to explore the stories, artwork and reflections on resilience represented in this interactive blanket. As you click through the blanket sections, watch for the reflection questions and think about what they mean to you and how they relate to your and others‘ experiences.

Combatting Racism: A Community Information Handbook
The Combatting Racism handbook is a resource compiled for the East and Southeast Asian communities who have been traumatized by anti-Asian racism during the COVID-19 pandemic and continue to be the targets of racism and discrimination. The handbook brings together the needed information to help the communities know their rights, recognize the various forms of racism, and learn practical strategies to respond to racial discrimination, harassment, bullying and hate crimes.

Black Education Fund 2024 Scholarship Applications
Apply now for the Black Education Fund scholarship program. The program is offering a total of 9 roster scholarships, each valued at up to $4000, along with 10 one-time bursaries of $500.
- Three (3) roster scholarships and ten (10) bursaries available.
- An additional two (2) roster scholarships are reserved for Black students within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
- Additional four (4) are designated for those pursuing studies in mental health, health sciences, or sciences.

The Interfaith Exchange fosters a better understanding of, and appreciation for, the different cultures, faiths, and individuals that make up the Canadian Mosaic. A brave space is:
- a supportive place where participants feel comfortable learning, sharing honestly and equally, and growing individually and together.

| Local Statistics for the LGBTQ+ Community in the Tri-Cities The 2023 Youth Development Index indicates that about 23% of youth in the Coquitlam school district identify as 2SLGBTQ+, which is almost one in four. In addition, about 4% of youth in grade 11 indicated their gender as either nonbinary or “in an-other way” (encompassing a variety of gender expansive identities). These statistics show that the local LGBTQ+ population is certainly not small!

The Immigrant Settlement & Integration Program (ISIP) at S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is currently looking for a Front Desk Assistant to perform the following responsibilities:
- Front Desk support.
- Greeting walk-in clients and visitors.
- Answering phone, directing calls.
- Helping clients register for workshops, classes or events.
- Promoting programs and services.
- Assisting Program Assistants with administrative tasks when needed.
If you speak Farsi, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Arabic, or Ukrainian, consider applying for this volunteer position.

| Empower Home
The Low Entropy Foundation is currently looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to support them in person to operate their thrift store in Port Coquitlam. You will perform a wide range of duties from customer service to sorting donations and organizing the store. Low Entropy asks volunteers to commit to a minimum of one shift per week. Shifts are usually about 4 hours in length.
Shifts available:
- Monday to Friday: 9am-1pm; 1pm-5pm; 5pm-8:30pm.
- Saturday to Sunday: 10am-2pm; 2pm-6:30pm.
Responsibilities:
- Providing customer service.
- Greeting customers when they arrive and support them.
- Processing payments via cash or the square terminal.
- Receiving and sorting donations.
- Checking merchandise for quality and condition.
- Organizing, merchandising, and hanging clothing
- Taking pictures and pricing clothes and items.
- Supporting with the promotion of the store and encouraging donation.
