Shelley Moore Offers Home Learning Tips in New Online Series

B.C. educators are doing an exceptional job of supporting students who have been learning from home since in-class instruction was suspended in mid-March. And many parents are keen to know how they can continue to help.

With that in mind, the Ministry of Education has partnered with inclusive education advocate and storyteller Shelley Moore on a new video series to better support students with disabilities learning at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Released every Tuesday and Thursday, these short videos include strategies for parents to help keep their kids connected and engaged with their learning during these extraordinary times.

Visit Open School BC's Keep Learning website or Shelley‘s Five Moore Minutes Special Home Learning Edition YouTube channel to see the videos that have been released in the series so far. Topics covered include explaining COVID-19 to kids, understanding continuous learning, the importance of visual cues, and interactive reading. Shelley also hosts a live stream podcast Q&A session on her social media channels each week that reaches over 16K followers.

Keep checking back to these sites as new videos will be released each week into the summer.
